Toothsome Chocolate Emporium | Steampunk Bar

Apr 22, 2019Orlando

Who doesn’t want to get tipsy off chocolate? Toothsome is here to make all your chocolate libation dreams come true! From their on brand old fashioned to a one-of-a-kind  chocolate stout, you can find any style of drink you’d normally order available with a chocolate variation.

Toothsome's Famous Chocolate Old Fashioned

Located in City Walk, this restaurant is no secret. The smoke stacks tower in front of Islands of Adventure for all to see, but the trick is knowing the best way to get in. Most people who want to eat at Toothsome or enjoy any of its chocolatey deliciousness have to check in, where they accept no reservations, and wait usually around 30-90 minutes for a table! It’s a popular place. BUT, the trick here is that you can walk right past the hostess, go straight up to the bar and sit down if there’s space (which we’ve never seen the bar full because no one knows you can do this except the few who frequent)!

Once you’ve skipped the hungry line downstairs, saddled up to the bar and made yourself comfortable, get ready for sweet delight.

The Chocolate Stout at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Menu

We’ve ordered many drinks at this steampunk styled restaurant and are always impressed. From their chocolate renditions of cocktail classics (double chocolate cherry mule, old chocolate fashioned) to dessert drinks made up on the spot (Marina created an excellent custom chocolate espresso cocktail) they all hit the mark for my sweet tooth. Of course they have non-chocolate craft drinks as well, but you don’t go to Toothsome to NOT order chocolate.

Jump the line and zip up the stairs, because now that the word is out, you better grab that bar stool before the chocolate melts! The bar also has the full food menu available as well as their libations. Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is open upstairs and ready to please your tastebuds with incredible chocolate re-creations of your favorite drinks.

Los Altos Authentic Miami Speakeasy

Finally a Miami hidden bar that oozes authenticity, class, and just the right amount of flair. Los Altos authentic Miami Speakeasy is a great stop when you want to avoid the club hype on South Beach.

Bodega Grungy Hidden Miami Speakeasy

Oh Miami, you were just not our cup of tea unfortunately. We really had been looking forward to was Bodega Taqueria y Tequila. The front part of the restaurant was awesome, Bodega Grungy Hidden Miami Speakeasy through the hidden entrance, not so much.

Slippbarinn | Hip Reykjavik Bar

While not exactly hidden, this hip Reykjavik bar with amazing food and original craft cocktails was the last drinking stop of our Iceland trip.

Pablo Discobar | Reykjavik’s Retro Hidden Bar

For a fun and quirky time, with great 80s music, and shining lights, don’t miss out on Pablo Discobar, Reykjavik’s Retro Hidden Bar. This slightly hidden bar up on the third floor of Burro restaurant in Reykjavík Iceland, has all the charm and spunk one could need in a night.

Dutch Kills | NYC Speakeasy

When you locate Dutch Kills in Long Island City, it will not look like you’d expect. There is a little neon “bar” sign outside of a grubby dive bar looking wall. If the sign is on you can go on in and find a completely different atmosphere inside.

NYC Joints that Missed the Mark

For a city that has such a vast list of secret drinking dens, they can’t all be high brow. We have so many speakeasies picked to visit each trip to New York that we’ve had to become quite selective with where to stay and spend at least $17 a cocktail.
